Since I started collecting Jethro Tull items,
I've heard and read a lot of stories around this release.
And it still amazes me how many collector's there
are that still doesn't know the truth about this item.
Therefore I started my own little research around
this item - and the result turned out to be what I
always suspected. The MGM single was ONLY released
as "Jethro Toe", and despite what socalled
"Tull collectors" and "Tull fans" have written
in highly respected magazines and fanzines through the
years, the "Jethro Tull" release of this item
is a counterfeit that was made in New York, USA.
Now, since a lot of Tull collector's out there still
don't know if they've got the original or the counterfeit, here
are the signs to look for:
A detailed description of the original Sunshine
Day/Aeroplane MGM release:
1) The label is wrongly spelled to "Jethro Toe"
2) The label is dark yellow
3) The label is 8,5 cm in diametre
4) The single was released with a centre
5) The single has a ridge around the label
6) The single has machine typed master numbers around
the label
A detailed description of the counterfeit Sunshine
Day/Aeroplane MGM release:
1) The label is correctly spelled "Jethro Tull"
2) The label is lighter yellow
3) The label is 9,2 cm in diametre
4) The single was not released with a centre
5) The single lacks the ridge around the label
6) The single has carved master numbers around the
label
7) The counterfeit was made on both black and red/orange
vinyl
